Downgrading Windows 7 Ultimate RC to Premium or Professional                  Print Preview Print Preview

Many users are running Windows 7 Ultimate RC and would like to throw caution to the wind and simply install Home Premium or Professional right over their current install.

1. Changing two registry keys in Windows 7 Ultimate RC:

 2038

2. Make sure to spell the editions correctly: HOMEPREMIUM, Windows 7 HOMEPREMIUM  ( or Professional, Windows 7 Professional )

Note: Different Languages/DVD’s  are spelled differently, look on the DVD that you have for the correct spelling you can see a list like this by putting the DVD in and starting the install without entering a key. To stop the install at this point click the red X.

2024

3. Extract all the files from the DVD and change the cversion.ini file to 7100 in the sources folder, so RC can be upgraded to RTM:

27

4. Now start the downgrade from the extracted files ( double click setup.exe ).
